Dear Families,

Thank you for all of your questions following my previous message about Chromebooks.

In the span of a few hours we received over 500 requests from 389 families.  While we would like to fulfill all requests, this number poses a serious logistical issue for us.

Because we have to prioritize needs before we distribute Chromebooks, we are asking you to fill out a new form (sorry, but please forget the old one), which can be found at:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1TXWiUQ69RZep5sFEoK1ZopnfXETG4eeMJKUBGrDhyRA/edit?ts=5e7d1d1b .

Before doing so, please read below:

I am hoping that the following information will enable some families to reconsider or modify their requests:

1. Tablets (e.g., iPads) and laptops are perfectly adequate

2. Macs as well as PCs are fine

3. High school students already have iPads.  Only those who left theirs in school will receive another iPad (not a Chromebook) and only once they have emailed either Mr. Hudder or Mr. Casey to express their need.

4. K-8 students should expect no more than 2 hours of work a day, whereas high school students should expect more.  Knowing this may help families determine how many devices they will need if they have more than one child.

We will need to prioritize families that do not have a device.  We will then do our best to provide a second device to families who have only one device but more than one school age child.

Best wishes,

Jon Sills

Superintendent
