Tiered Instruction (Rtl)

Bedford High School is committed to educating a diverse population of learners. BHS uses a tiered model of support, often known as Response to Intervention.    

The following supports are available to all students (Tier 1):

  • iPads
  • DCAP
  • Leveled classes
  • X-block as a time to obtain extra help from teachers
  • Guidance staff
  • Reading Elective
  • Directed Study
  • MCAS analysis

The following supports are available to students who might need additional targeted interventions (Tier 2):

  • Mandatory Homework Help
  • Counseling with School Adjustment counselor
  • Academic Support
  • MCAS Support
  • Writing Lab
  • Reading Services
  • Co-taught classes
  • Referral to Student Support Team

Students requiring additional beyond Tier 2 interventions may qualify for more intensive supports (Tier 3). Examples of this include individualized reading and math services.
