7/29 - Message from BHS

Dear BHS Community,

The summer is certainly flying by and we hope that you are finding some time to enjoy down time. Our formal welcome back communication will be emailed mid-August and will contain all of the details you will need to start the school year. We are still awaiting guidance from the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education regarding guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year. Once available, we will incorporate the guidance into our opening of school plans and communicate with the school community.

Below is some preliminary information for the opening of school. Parents and guardians, please mark your calendars for Back to School Night which is scheduled for September 30 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Bedford High School. Currently it is scheduled to be in-person but we will make changes, if necessary, in accordance with pending guidance from the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.

Take care,

Heather Galante

Principal

First Day of School

The first day of school is Wednesday, September 1. It is a ¾ day and dismissal is at 12:55. The first two days of school will start with our advisory period and include a modified schedule where all classes will meet. The detailed schedule will be included in the mid-August communication. As a reminder, there is no school on September 3 or 6.

Schedules

Students are able to access a list of their classes by logging into Aspen and clicking on the pdf on their Pages tab (using a regular web browser). We are finalizing hiring and the master schedule in August. Student schedules should be available for viewing by August 13.

Arena Day - our typical, in-person day to address scheduling issues - was originally planned for August 27. Due to uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, we will address scheduling issues through virtual counselor appointments this year.

The BHS Counseling Department is inviting students for virtual appointments to make schedule changes beginning the week of August 23. To request a schedule change, please complete the Schedule Change Request. Depending upon the complexity of the request, counselors will either make changes on their own or send the student an email to schedule an appointment via Zoom. Once you have a scheduled appointment, your counselor will send you a Zoom meeting link.

Freshmen and New Students

We are excited to welcome new students and the Class of 2025 to Bedford High School! The orientation will be absorbed into the first two days of school. We have an ambassador program where upperclassmen will help new students acclimate to the high school. There will be tours, meetings with administrators and a general introduction to Bedford High School on the first day of school. Our students will also meet in advisories to help answer questions and calm potential nervousness.  We will make the transition a smooth one.

Our Peer Leadership class created this video as an introduction to Bedford High School. Please take time to view it so you can get a sense of our wonderful school community.  We look forward to meeting the newest members of Bedford High School.
